Mapdwell wins Exelon Utilities RFP for Customer-Facing, Utility-Wide Solar Mapping

Mapdwell, MoDe’s Clean Tech affiliate, secured a multi-year contract with Exelon Utilities, part of Exelon Corporation, the largest electric conglomerate in the US ($32 billion in revenue in 2017) with interests in energy generation, transmission, distribution, and retail.

Mapdwell was selected from a handful of companies with remote sensing capabilities for accurate solar potential mapping, after a thorough and intensive competitive process that began in December, 2017. The project – Solar Calculator – is part of the Digital Solar Toolkit (DST) and will provide open access to solar PV assessment for over 30 million people or 9+ million rooftops, covering all of Exelon Utilities’ service areas in Illinois, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C.

ComEd, Exelon largest Utility, led the process and expects Exelon Utilities to be the first Investor-Owned Utility (IOU) to provide this granular data to every customer, looking to accelerate solar PV adoption across the US through actionable information tools.

The Mapdwell team is ready for the challenge and can’t wait to enable the electrification journey for over 10% of American households.
